Aerospace Standards
AS 9100
The AS 9100 series is an ISO 9001 based set of standards developed by
the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) that addresses the
stringent quality requirements of the aerospace industry, from commercial
aviation to defense. Certification against AS 9100 standard requirements
can be applied to virtually any area of the aerospace industry throughout
the entire supply chain. It covers areas such as design and manufacture
of equipment, aircraft accessory supply, replacement parts, supply and
maintenance, overhaul and repair services. One significant difference
between AS 9100 and ISO 9001 is that the AS standard is score-driven,
not pass/fail like ISO. This AS score is published on the OASIS database
and is seen by OEM’s and Aerospace Primes.
Certifying your management system against the AS 9100 standards is a
boost to your credibility. It aligns your quality management systems
to the same high levels expected, recognized and adopted by the aerospace
industry. AS 9100 certification can also reduce any costs and disruptions
caused by multiple 2nd and 3rd party audits, often needed to demonstrate
acceptable standards. While demonstrating a real commitment to delivering
safe, quality products and services to the aerospace industry can transform
your corporate image and act as an effective entry-to-market tool.
AS 9120
The AS 9120 standard is published by the SAE
- Society for Automotive Engineers. It adds specific requirements that
are relevant for stockist or pass-through distributors for the aerospace
industry. The standard would be applicable for organizations that resell,
distribute, and warehouse parts found in aircraft and other aerospace
components. Your consultant should be Oasis Data Base approved.
AS 9110
The AS 9110 standard is published by the SAE
- Society for Automotive Engineer. It adds specific requirements that
are critical for the maintenance of commercial, private, and military
aircrafts, with additional criteria for the maintenance repair and overhaul
facilities for the aircraft industry (MRO's). FAA-certified repair stations
would be an example of such a potential organization. Those seeking
Parts Manufacturing Approval (PMA) from the FAA to manufacture aircraft
parts and components could also utilize AS9110.
Your consultant should be an RABQSA Aerospace Industry
Experienced Auditor (aiea). Look for the Expert.
